On Nov. 5, more than 50 attendees gathered in Dearborn, Michigan, for The Surface Summit, a one-day event hosted by Plastics Decorating. Co-sponsored by RadTech International North America and UV+EB Technology magazine, The Surface Summit featured a full day of technical papers presented by experts in technologies for surface treatment, surface cleaning, and UV, UV LED and electron beam curing for molded plastics. Plastics Decorating would like to provide a special thank you to our event sponsors: Gold Sponsor – Plasmatreat USA, and Silver Sponsor – Hereaus Noblelight America LLC.
Several attendees commented on the quality of the presentations, which covered a variety of subjects that included Future Trends with Decorative Plastic Surfaces; UV LED Curing; Electron Beam Curing: Removing Contaminants with Dry Ice; Measurement of Surface-Free Energy; and Smart Surfaces for Automotive Applications.
“The quality and diversity of topics was the best I have seen in years,” said Jeff Detrick, Aptiv. “The topics were very informative, entertaining, interesting and cohesive to the theme of the conference. I especially commend your selection of speakers, who presented based on information rather than a sales pitch for the company they represent. We have all been to conferences were we zone out or doze off due to various reasons, but not at the Surface Summit – it was engaging from beginning to end!”
The Surface Summit also included 11 tabletop exhibits from leading suppliers, adding value for the attendees and creating networking opportunities for all. “We were very pleased with our first-ever Summit,” added Plastics Decorating Publisher Jeff Peterson. “We look forward to hosting additional topic-specific events like this in the future.”
The next event for those interested in these educational opportunities will be the SPE Decorating & Assembly Topical Conference (TopCon), co-located with the IMDA Symposium, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, June 16-18. For more information, visit www.plasticsdecorating.com.
