We’ve had a busy summer here at the IMDA: A new website was launched, the IMDA Awards Competition winners were announced and registration opened for this fall’s IMDA Symposium.
The redesigned IMDA website gives us an expanded format to feature the association’s members. The Member Directory – which is a valuable resource for those interested in reaching providers of in-mold processes and the leading suppliers to the industry – now gives us new functionality to showcase members and draw attention to their services and product offerings. The IMDA Awards Competition honorees can be seen on page 33 in this magazine – as well as in other industry publications, at the IMDA Symposium and at PACK EXPO Las Vegas. And, the Symposium has a terrific lineup of papers for those involved in plastics decorating and labeling of all types. With our co-location with the SPE Decorating & Coatings Division, attendees will have the opportunity to attend any session of interest, which means even more exposure for in-mold technology.

2021 IMDA Awards Competition Honorees Revealed
The winners of the 2021 IMDA Awards Competition have been announced, recognizing outstanding in-mold labeled packaging, in-mold decorated durable products and in-mold electronics submissions that were produced in 2020 or are slated for release in 2021. Entries were received from around the world, showcasing the best in in-mold design and technical achievement. This year’s competition featured new categories to recognize innovations related to sustainability and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Winners of the competition were announced with a Video Reveal in July and also will be honored during a reception at the IMDA Symposium, scheduled for September 16-17. The 2021 IMDA Awards Competition would not have been possible without the support of its sponsors: InkWorks Printing, Innovia, KURZ, StackTeck and YUPO.

Registration for IMDA Symposium Now Open
In-person events have returned! Register now for the 2021 IMDA Symposium, to be held in conjunction with SPE’s Decorating & Assembly Division. The joint conference event will take place Sept. 16-17 at the Westin Hotels & Resorts in Edina (Minneapolis), Minnesota.
The joint conferences will provide a broad selection of experts in all fields of plastics decorating, assembly and in-mold decorating/labeling. Topics include vision inspection systems, functional inks for in-mold electronics, anti-fingerprint and scratch-resistant coatings, the recyclability of decorated plastics and automation and robotics.
The event also will include a Supplier Trade Fair and Reception – open to attendees of both conferences – with tabletop exhibits from leading suppliers to the industry. Already committed are YUPO Corporation America, GEW, KURZ, Tributek, 3DT and Wipfli. Visit
