Process Highlight: In-Mold Decorating and Labeling

BRINK
+31 (0)318 452 500
www.brinkbv.com

Brink, Harskamp, The Netherlands, a supplier of automation systems and molds, demonstrated its expertise in IML automation and extremely fast cycle times at this year’s K trade fair in Düsseldorf. One highlight was the production cell for a classic 1-liter round bucket, presented jointly with Netstal. The 4-cavity mold achieved a total cycle time of only 3.8 seconds, including in-mold labeling (IML). The produced part weighed only 22.80 grams – another step towards resource efficiency.

www.centraldecal.com

Central Decal, located in Burr Ridge, Illinois, is an in-mold decorating specialist. The first and second surface IMLs deliver the quality, aesthetics and performance required for a wide range of applications. What makes the company’s IMLs unique is the repeatability of debris-free IMLs. Central Decal’s proprietary technology creates a permanent bond between the IML and a similar or dissimilar resin, eliminating delamination, popping or bubbling between the IML and resin. IMLs are provided with smooth or textured surfaces and gloss or matte finishes. As for inks, Central Decal prints mirror chrome, brushed stainless, dead-front windows, display windows, metallics, patterns and fades.

DURATECH INDUSTRIES

www.duratech.com

DuraTech, headquartered in La Crosse, Wisconsin, offers films to withstand heat, pressure and molding cycles while maintaining color, clarity and dimensional stability. In-Mold Decorating (IMD) uses graphic overlays printed on films that are permanently molded into plastic parts to create durable, visually striking components. IMD is ideal for decorative graphics, functional overlays and human-machine-interfaces (HMIs) on flat, curved or 3D surfaces. Embedding printed graphics during molding eliminates secondary decoration steps, improves part durability and streamlines production. DuraTech Industries provides high-performance IMD films and overlays for automotive, appliance, medical and electronics applications.
