Innovative Marking Systems, headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts, supplies equipment, automation, accessories and training to the plastics decorating industry. The Logica PadFoil 05NS is its latest offering from TOSH, combining pad printing and die-less foil stamping in one machine. TOSH’s European clients are using the system to decorate high-end glass beverage and plastic cosmetic containers and closures, plus natural and synthetic materials such as those found on footwear.
Two Decorating Options in One
The TOSH Logica Pad Foil NS offers a single cycle combining gold, silver and holographic foil stamping with one- or two-color pad printing. This allows foil stamping on irregular or 3-dimensional substrates that would be unachievable with traditional foil stamping. This system also makes it possible to foil stamp complex geometries without metal or silicone dies. Instead, a pad printing cliché is utilized for transferring the foil at high resolution, through the use of a special primer formulated by TOSH.
Machine Details
All operating parameters are controllable though the keyboard of the machine (as opposed to mechanically) with alphanumeric display. A countdown function and memorization of different work programs allow for easy job setup. At the same time, high-speed servo-controlled movements and short robot intervention times increase accuracy and throughput. The machine includes a built-in piece pretreatment and pre-drying device.
Other features include:
- A servo-adjustable frame allows quick adjustments for different mold heights, ensuring flexibility across various mold and product sizes.
- The system can take products from both sides of the mold with its rotatable x-axis, enabling efficient handling of inside and outside gated products.
- Its exclusive electric operation presents an advantage compared to an equivalent pneumatic machine.
- An integrated automatic lubrication system ensures smooth operation with minimal downtime and reduced maintenance requirements.
- The system is capable of assembling complex products, such as buckets with handles, spoons in hinged lids and more, all done automatically by the robot.
- The system can be expanded with third-party units for processes such as foiling stacks of products or inserting liners into lids, creating a complete and future-ready production solution.
