TopCon & IMDA Symposium Hitting Chicago Area
The SPE Decorating & Assembly Division, along with the In-Mold Decorating Association (IMDA), will host a Topical Conference (TopCon) and Symposium on June 18-20 at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort in Lincolnshire, Illinois.
After the success last year and having one event for both conferences, we wanted to continue the momentum and decided to combine efforts again in 2017, said TopCon organizer and Plastics Decorating Editor-in-Chief Jeff Peterson. Last years event in Franklin, Tennessee, brought in nearly 180 attendees, and organizers are expecting even more for the 2017 event.
The TopCon/Symposium will begin with a casual reception on Sunday evening, June 18. Programming will begin the next morning and will run thorugh midday June 20. There will be several breakout sessions with papers for decorating, assembly/joining, in-mold decorating (IMD) and in-mold labeling (IML). New for the decorating/assembly side will be the addition of 45-minute workshops, where attendees can be part of a smaller group of 25-30 people and have an open conversation on specific decorating/assembly/IMD topics.
Four decorating workshops, four assembly/joining workshops and four IMD/IML workshops are scheduled. Attendees will have the opportunity to choose four separate workshops to attend. The workshop format is something that IMDA has been offering with the Symposium for quite some time, said Peterson. We thought it was a great idea and decided to incorporate it with our programming for 2017 as well.
Another change from last years event will be additional times for attendees to visit the Supplier Trade Fair. Attendees will be able to visit the exhibits during breaks, an extended lunch on the first day, a reception following programming on the first day, and early morning and breaks the second day before the event ends. The IMDA Awards Dinner is scheduled for June 19. The IMDA will present awards for IMD/IML in several categories.
